How Healthy Is Your Zipcode

Sinai Community Institute and Sinai Urban Health Institute, in conjunction with Cook County Commissioner Robert Steele, the Chicago Department of Public Health, and many other elected officials and organizations (see list below )* present “How Healthy is Your Zip Code: A Summit on African-American Health” Saturday, October 4, 2008. *
This half day, free event will be packed with information participants can use about the highly prevalent chronic diseases and conditions in African-American communities. Participants will learn more about breast cancer and Black women, diabetes and the Black community, prostate cancer, obesity and asthma. Lunch will be served and health screenings will be available during the morning sessions and in the afternoon. The event will be held in Mount Sinai Hospital’s Glasser Auditorium at California Boulevard and 15th Street, Chicago, 60608.
Faith based and community organizations are encouraged to come and learn and share what they learn with others. It is time to stop the cycle of disease and suffering in Black communities and learn that there are things that African-American families can do to safeguard their health.
Advance registration is preferred although participants can register the day of the event at 8:30 a.m.
